I just talked to my Revit Sales...I was having trouble loading DWF Writer... She said that Revit does not support the use of DWF Writer... What gives with that?

That means Design Review is useless too.

I just created a support request from within Revit a few weeks ago when I had problems installing the DWF writer and they responded quite quickly to help me resolve the issue. It sounds like you're getting bad info from your local.

Sounds like your reseller doesn't know much about DWF. Its coded into revit and the viewer actually installs when you run the Revit 2008 install. What issues are you having?

I get an error message just as it is finishing loading."ERROR: Failed to retrieve the value EnvVarSystemRoot"
Any idea on what this is and how to fix it? I loaded the Design Review with no problem.

DUH... (red faced) I see tha tI can Publish to DWF ... oh man... Live a little ... learn a little

Thanks! (Still have the DWF Writer download problem.)

My two cents; Just having gone through some of this, remember: DWF Writer should be used for printing DWF files from programs OTHER than Revit (Word, Etc.) The Publish command should be used in Revit.

There is a difference between Printing a DWF and Publishing a DWF.

Publishing a DWF includes lots of Revit "smartness." It is intended to include stuff like the Room Bounding areas for Facilities Management.
Printing a DWF is just dumb lines and (I think) is 2D only.

We had some issues with our Reprographer using the Published files, so we had to go with Printed DWFs. Unfortunately, there's a reminder message every time you Print telling you you should really be Publishing. No way to turn it off.
