Well, we are finally maxed out on Revit licenses, and needing to add the timeout feature, so that people who walk away from there machines with Revit running don't hog a license. So i am wondering, has anyone run into any issues with Revit and the license timeout? If you come back to your desk and can't get a license, can you just Save Local, or can you also STC and relinquish? We will probably need a few more licenses soon, but that feature can be a godsend when you have 30 plus licenses.

Thanks!

Hi Gordon,

Yes, you can STC and relinquish.

When your copy of Revit can't get a license, you get 9 (I think) extensions or 'lives'. Each time you do something that needs a license (e.g. saving), it uses up one life. If you run out of lives, you can't save any more.

So, as soon as you get the message about 'you have 9 lives remaining', you save all your work. Then you can call round the office to see if someone can release a license for you.
