Is there a way to get the SIM tag removed from some types via a new callout annotation tag where that label is removed from the callout head family (or something similar because that doesnt work), and still have some tags read with the SIM label? Thanks for any help.

You could search this on the forums, it is a common problem and has lots of responses...

But, here's the short of it. When you are referencing an existing callout view with a new one, these new callout tags must be of the same type as the existing one - in effect, think of the original view as the parent, and the referencing callouts (that aren't creating a new view) as the children. If the parent has "SIM" in it's properties, so will all the kids.

In this case, all the referencing labels are either SIM, OH, Jo Momma, or whatever you choose to put in the Ref Label parameter for the parent view. It would sure be nice if you could get both, and believe me there are a lot of requests on the wishlists and autodesk's own support requests for this to happen. For now, at my firm we put SIM on everything, and in the cases it is also O.H. we put a dumb text note under the tag that says O.H. Technically speaking, SIM is correct for O.H., it just isn't quite specific enough... So, we augment the SIM notation.

This is one of the few cases where Revit forces you to be stupid, just like you were in ACAD.
