Beam display- floor plan

I am having a problem with the way my beams display in a RAC 2008 rvt that I didnt have in a 9.1 rvt file. What I am looking for is a beam that has a dashed line in the floor plan and is a heavy line in the framing plan. Both have the beams inserted on the main floor and offset to the proper height. In the 9.1 file is shows the way that it should and in the RAC it does not. The only way that I can seem to get it to work is to pick the beams in the framing plan and them by using a view override to what I want, which is fine for a workaround, but not for longterm. I thought that if the cut plane was going thru the object that it would show the cut line? It worked fine in 9.1 and now it doesnt. Could it be because it was upgraded? It extremely useful to have the beams shown in the floor plan during layout and for changes. See attachments
