I have a customer looking for a 72" wide plotter... He only needs black, and fairly simple lines (patterns for cloth cutting). The only thing he needs is accuracy, he prints 72" x 100' (yes feet), but it needs to maintain the accuracy +/- .005 over the 100'. Parts are small (around 2' x 2') so they only need to maintain accuracy to each other.

I don't think the accuracy will be an issue for most new plotters. The hard part is finding something that large that is not made for outdoor signs and such.

Any ideas?

Any ideas?A sign plotter was the first thing I thought of. Why wouldn't that work for your client? Most of them are pen plotters, and have some pretty incredible accuracy. The only HP I know of to handle media that big is the DesignJet 10000s. It's a banner plotter though.

Can you get rolls of paper 100' long?

What on earth are you plotting at 72"x100' (1828mmx30480mm) ?

Our standard roll length is 650 feet. We use about 3 of those per day...

http://www.materialconcepts.com/pages/plotter-paper.asp lists some rolls as large as 72"X1500'
