I'm having a problem with a Revit family I created, when it comes to modifying the family, and I can't seem to determine what the problem is.

The attached awning wall object will load and affix itself to a wall but if you modify it, lets say delete some of the frame supports for an alternate spacing the new object will create an error after you reload it and try to place it. You get the "Can't Make Type" error.

I'm working in 9.1

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I have fixed this family for you (attached). The awning now has a type parameter to control how many supports are used. The length now also can be controled with a type parameter. The roof joints will increase or decrease as needed depending on the length. The major problem here was the use of groups in the family. The awning supports and roof joints are also best controled with arrays rather than constrained dimensions as in the original.

Send me a PM if you want a more elaborate description of what was done to correct the family.

P.S. Thanks for letting me use this file Carl! :)
