I'm trying to put a text box into a Room tag and give the text box a yes/no visibility instance parameter. However, when I load the tag into the project, I don't have the yes/no instance parameters available to me when I go to the properties of the tag. The parameters DO show up if I make them Type instead of Instance. But that isn't what I want. I'd like to be able to toggle between NSF and GSF on an instance basis.

Is this possible? Why isn't it behaving the way I think it should?

Thank you!

You can, you make them different a "type" of Room Tag, and then when you want to toggle them per room, you go to the top and switch to the "other" room tag. That is the only way i know of to do it.

We have one room tag that has name, area, and volume, and using type parameters you can control which ones are visible. So in essence, i grab the room tags and switch their "type"...

Hope this helps...

I thought to do that, but that is almost too much work. See, the NSF and GSF are on two lines in the tag and whether or not the value is Gross or Net is dependent on the code for that particular room type. So, in essence, I have to create a NSF/NSF type, and NSF/GSF type, GSF/GSF and GSF/NSF. And then, on top of that, the user has to decide which is which. Way too much work, switching types when all they should have to do is check whether an instance parameter is visible or not, per tag basis.

I have the instance parameter degree of visibility control in titleblocks. Why not in tags?

I cant say authoritatively, but id assume it has something to do with the fact that the ROOM is the object you are tagging, and not the Tag itself. You can change the Room on an instance basis, maybe you should go that route? Maybe put a Yes/No parameter in the Room s themselves (as a shared parameter), or as a Text if not a yes/no, and then have the tag read that? If you do it with Shared Text parameters, they SHOULD be able to enter the info in to the tag, so to speak...

But frankly, i think users would have an easier time selecting from NSF/NSF, NSF/GSF x 4 that having to edit the properties of every tag on an instance basis and check and uncheck parameters manually.
