pier cut modeling challenge

I have been using piers a lot lately. I looking for advice on the best way to model the pier break line shown in the attached image. blend?

-it has to look right when cut or from any elevation

Any ideas??

This is just a graphical representation of the cut to show that its a circular object, from my understanding its not actually how the pier is cut... As such i would create a detail component with parameters and align it to the bottom of the pier set to show in elevations and sections... Similar to the breakline families.

i know the pier is not cut that way in reality but it looks good and is standard way of describing piers here. Are you suggesting that i embed a detail beak line into the pier family in all elevation? How would that work in section? I was thinking about two extruded break lines, one in each elevation direction..do you think that will work?
