View Full Version : Window replacement problems

I read the "Whack-a-mole" thread and had a chuckle, because I seem to be playing Whack-a-mole with window replacement.

I just upgraded to 2008, and am having trouble with Constitution Gardens. We're replacing all the windows and I usually do that by:

1. Select all the windows and hit copy
2. Set all windows to be demolished in new construction
3. Paste in "same place" in new construction view.

This should be a 5 minute operation (4 minutes for Revit to think), but typically there are a couple infills that don't go away, i.e. the window is there, but it does not cut the infill, you see the infill, but mouse over it and see the outline of the window. My usual fix is to just "Flip Facing" twice, and this usually fixes most of the problem; but I've spent the better part of the last two days playing "whack-a-mole" with that approach, getting the elevations right.

Usually, a Revit upgrade automatically takes care of all the bad infills, but this time, it undid all the work I've done, and the old "flip facing" trick doesn't work anymore.

Not sure this will solve the problem, but is the windows family set up in the family editor so that the window will show up on the walls when placed. Because I had the same problem, but my windows just were backwards on my reference plane in the fanily editor. Otherwise good luck if this doesn't help!
