Text Tab Width Problem

I'm having a problem with long blocks of text, such as our "code summary". When I double click on the text box to edit it, the width of the tabs change depending upon how far I'm zoomed in or out from the text. This screws up my tab alignments, and I end up having to zoom in and out until I find the zoom that's just right for editing the text without changing the alignment. Has anyone else encountered this, and does anyone know how to keep this from happening?

I am having this same problem. Using 2009. I'll try 2010 to see if it's any better.
