View Full Version : How to do a chainlink fence?

I've gone to site>components>load and then selected chain_link under fences in the site library, but then nothing happens.

Also how do I do garden kerbing & lawn areas.

They are segments of the fence you need to place them as components where you want them, then array, rotate as needed and copy some more. If this is to big a pain, then just create a wall type that is 1/2" thick with the material chainlink applied and a surface pattern that looks like chainlink(crosshatch) set the trans to 100 and just draw away. Then just add the posts some day if you need them.

I've also found that the curtain wall can work very well for fence. Just make a curtain panel that has the material that sbrown describes, and use a 2.5" diameter mullion...

I did them ones using the railing tool

Use a railing along with a thin profile that is assigned a model pattern (2"x2") rotated at 45 degrees. Same idea for works for screen, wire mesh and preliminary curtain walls. See attached.
