We are working on some tenant improvement projects in buildings where we have existing base floor plans that are drawin in AutoCAD. I would like to link in the existing base drawing rather than import them. The problem I have is when I need to export our base drawing to DWG for consultant coordination - Revit locks everytime. When we remove the linked dwg or import it it works fine. It seems like the Revit export should recognize that there is a linked dwg and be able to handle it.
Does anyone have an easy work around? Importing the existing base drawings becomes a little sloppy. Removing the link and the merging (xrefing) the files together in AutoCAD seems a little tedious.
