Hi,
From what I can find on this forum, it seems some of you have been playing around or using Robobat.

Has anyone tried ADAPT (http://www.adaptsoft.com/revitstructure/) ? Whats it like?

Is there a list of other extensions or add ons available for Revit Structural 2008?

Is there comparative documentation or tests done available?

In other words how does one go about making the right choice.

Depends on what you mean by the "Right" choice. You can go to the Adesk web site to find all the add-ons available for RS2008 and find out who has links available. As for which engineering software, Ram is making leeps and bounds to get a true back and forth link working. From my understanding it works rather nice. We have a copy of Adapt, but I don't know that we use it that much. It's mainly used for PT beam design and we don't do to much of that. We use PCA for most of our concrete designed buildings. We also use Ram Concrete. I don't konw that the link works real well with either of those as Revit and CIP are still a little behind the steel side. Risa also has a nice link and I know they were working on creating a link between Risa Floor, Risa 3-d and Revit. From my experience, Ram is a better program on the ease of use side. However, sometimes you get some real screwy results from Ram. Risa takes a little longer to get the loads and such in (IMHO) but you will get consistant results. Also because it's a true Node base program, I think in the end Risa my come out with the better link, but I haven't played around with either of these in about 6mths, so I'm not sure who's leading the charge at this point. Hope this helps.
