Linework tool on DWG imports

I have a DWG import and I appear to be able to alter some of the lines in the DWG file using the linework tool, but not others?

Is there something I dont know about that lets me edit certain line types and not others in DWG imports using the linework tool?

As it turns out, each time the DWG file is re-loaded I lose the edits made in any case? am I not meant to use linework on DWG files - and if not why can I sometimes edit lines with it......

Martin, have you tried changing the linetype associated with the dwg to the weight you want, and not use the lineweight tool? That's usually my approach. I usually explode and redraw my details to Revit finished drafting views though also..

Exploding is not really an option, its a big site plan that is linked into Revit, to keep up with changes - we didnt draw it either so the layers are an absolute disaster, so editing the lines by object style is painful....... Linework tool seemed great to quickly alter them, but I dont think its meant to be done, but it was very good for the lines it did alter! (till I reloaded it!)

I wanted to resurrect this thread to see if there is an answer to the initial question - when I link, how is that I'm able to use linework on some lines and not others? We're doing this because Mech needs to show in our ceiling plans (which they did in AutoCAD). We've got varied ceiling heights in the project and the thought is to bring in the CAD files and use linework to turn what we don't want to see to invisible lines. Unfortunately, we can only pick some lines for turning invisible and others not... why is this?

I've experienced this too and I think it works on individual line segments but not splines or plines. Try opening the cad file and exploding any plines and see if you can then hit it. Or it might be not working on lines that have been overiden ie not by layer by color.

Now see, I have some lwpolylines that it will pick (door symbols) and change. However it will not pick walls that are lwpolylines which have been converted from lines.
All entities in the CAD file are bylayer...

Very strange, non-consistent behaviour....

Any thoughts from the factory on this?
