line too short

I am trying to use the detail lines command to trace Detail headers from other manufacturers...its giving me a message of line is too short...I understand that because the scale and the size of the line is too short to display...but why does it work for arcs and not with lines? is there a way to fix this?

Try changing your view scale to a higher value.
