We're having trouble controlling the visibility of stairs in plan. We're working on a remodel project. When we assign the phase "Existing" to the stairs, the lines for the risers above the cut plane show as solid rather than dashed. If we make the stair's phase "New", it all works fine. The problem is just with the existing phase designation.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Andrew

Just remember when using phases. EVERYTHING is controlled by the Phase filters & overrides... Meaning, if the phase filter setting is on, lets say, Show Existing and New, And in the Phase Filter settings it shows Existing to be OVERRIDEN, look at the Overrider Setting, and you'll notice probably notice that Existing has a line type of SOLID,

I have already put a request to the development team about this situation....

Let me know if you need anymore help!

Yes, we had to play with the visibility settings to get our new and existing walls to show properly. We want the existing walls to have no poche, and new walls to have a med. gray poche. We are doing this by using a phase override for the new walls, setting a material, called "Phase-new", that is set with a solid gray fill pattern.

The line pattern for new construction is set to solid, and I guess that is overriding the normal display for the risers above the cut line being dashed. In the case of symbolic lines like these dashed lines for the risers above the cut, we don't want them to be overridden, but we've only been given the single point of control that effects all lines in the view.

If we could set the line pattern to be "no change", we'd be ok. In our case, it is only the material, line weight, and line color we want to override. But I don't see any way to turn off the line pattern. "No material" and "No color" are available for those catagories, but there isn't any corresponding "No pattern".

Is there some other way to have a poche fill difference between new and existing walls? We could define a separate wall type for each, but that seemed counter to the philosophy of the phase feature.

Any suggestions would be welcome,

Andrew

I know this is late, but I was looking for an answer to the exact same problem and found this thread, so maybe other folks will benefit from this. The solution I found was to go into the phasing graphical overrides and change the Existing Projection Line pattern override from "Solid" to "No Override." I left the color and weight overrides where they were, and now my stairs look just like they ought to. I don't think a lot of other things would be messed up by this change, so it probably will work for most of these kinds of issues.
