Hello all.

As always… sorry for the quality of the English text, I use “Google Translate” to convert my French original text.

A user of “Revit Structure 2008” of our company asked me these questions:

01 - He drew beams (truss) and lengthened; does the 3D View show it perfectly but on the Plan View, of “low” visibility is of linear representation, nothing appears… only of average” or “high” visibility “? See the sketches which I have just made (not in Revit)
02 - Always in its same project, there winds-bracing (visible in 3D View) but as for item 01 precedent, not of “low” visibility… why? See the sketches which I have just made (not in Revit)
03 - Perhaps the most difficult question? Is it possible to insert in a existing drawing (project) a new “prototype” created or modified recently?

Thanks!

1: It depends on how he extended the beam out. If he left the actual endpoint of the beam snapped to the truss and just pulled out the beam extension handle that only graphically extends the beam and does not extend the stick line, which will only display in 3d view and in fine and medium detail levels. So in course view the beam would still appear to end at the truss. The way to make the beams extend beyond truss in a course detail level plan view would be to actually extend the endpoints of the beam past the truss. A quick way would be to draw a reference plane where they need to go and use the trim tool to extend them out.

2: I don't quite understand what the question is, but it sounds like something that has to do with what detail level your view is set to. Braced frame symbols only show up in in the course detail level, you should be able to change the visibility setting of that family to show up on medium and/or fine as well.

3: You should be able to do that in several different ways, one way would be to combine your object to be pasted into a group and copy and paste it, another way would be to link it in and if you need to you can bind it to the project.

Hope that helps.
