I'm adding a structural beam, solid conc form the library, and I'm placing it on a grid line. The beam need to go from exterior wall to exterior wall, but it either stops short or extends past the wall. My grid line is on the exterior face of the wall for information. I've tried moving the blue dot and using the align tool but it still has a mind of its own and refuses to snap to the wall or grid line. Help would be appreached prior to destruction of my monitor.
Thanks

OK, this is interesting. The beams are framed into structural Tee's. When I erase the Tee at the perimeter the beam can be extended to the perimeter, however when the Tee is replaced the beam snaps to the inside edge of the Tee. Any thoughts, locking the beam doesn't help.

I had the same problem when modeling a parking structure earlier this year. Have a look at the attached family files. I added an offset parameter to manually control the extension of the double tee. I also added an offset parameter to the L-beam, which allows it to be placed eccentrically to a column.
It probably could be more elegant, but all this was done on-the-fly.

And of course in one day if your office is like mine.
Thanks for the info.
