I have a Word document that is too big to bring into ACAD 2005 as one OLE object. I need to break it up into two separate OLE inserts. In the Word document I have nine bullet points... and they are numbered 1 through 9 in the Word doc.
I insert the first seven bullet points into my CAD file and it comes in fine. However, when I try to bring in the second part of the Word doc, or bullet points 8 and 9, ACAD renames the points to 1 and 2. So it goes something like this:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
1.
2.
That is obviously not what I am looking for. Isn't an OLE object basically just a 'snapshot' of the Word doc? Why would it change the numbers 8 and 9 to 1 and 2? I've never had this happen before.
Any ideas?
Thanks

my honest opinion? dont use OLE, what version are you running? if it is one of the newer versions, you could just copy and paste into an mtext object. it wont automatically update, but it works a whole lot better.

I agree. I find it just easier to edit directly in ACAD, or just re-copy the whole dang thing, if there are extensive edits.

Right.. I also agree. Unfortunately we are still on ACAD 2005 for the time being so I am stuck with trying to do it in that version.
Is there any way to fix my issue since I don't have a newer version yet?

Hm. We used to have a problem when Excel files were too big. It was solved sometimes by making the cells/text smaller.
In Word, I wonder if changing the font size and/or removing "empty" lines could make a difference?
Also, if your Word doc spills over into more than one page, that might be doing it, so editing it so it's all on one might help.

Can you copy it from Word then paste it into MTEXT?

OK so I am late on this reply but... I have been dealing with these OLE word inserts the last few days and I found that you can double click the OLE and it opens in word or if that don't work for you right click the OLE and then choose OLE then Open. Then highlight by clickiing on the 1 st number you need to change( in your example1 needs to become 8 ). After highlighting the number right click and in the list click Bullets and Numbering. When this box opens leave the format highlighted as is but click customize on the bottom of the box. When that opens change the Starts in box to the number or letter needed to start with (your 1 to 8 ). Then the rest will follow from there (8,9,10 ect.). I hope this makes sense. Much easier to show in person as I have been the teacher for this to everyone in the office for the last half a day. Good Luck.
