Rvt 2008: Design Options in Groups?

We have upgraded to Revit Building 2008 and have been using groups for a multi-family project we are working on. So far groups have been awesome. But I've run into a stickey situation where we would like to have a design option within the group, but design options are greyed out when you activate the group to edit it. Does anyone know of a way to use design options in groups?

Also if anyone can point me to a document on the limitations to the newly updated group application that would be very helpful.

Make the group a link and create your design options in that link file

Or, since you can swap out 1 group for another group, make a duplicate group and call it Option 2! Then, switch groups as needed. Design Options aren't meant to operate in that capacity. Or, alternately, Groups and Design Options have some overlap in capacity, and thus don't work in sync like you want.
