One other thing to check is that Visual Styles is set to 2d wireframe. Not sure if this is it but it has happened to me before.

i checked all the variables and they are set correctly, 2dwireframe is set for visual styles, downloaded and install service patch for 2008, still the same problem and its only happening in one drawuing only. the drawing is done in 2d, we do not draw in 3d.

if it is indeed in one drawing only, have you audited that drawing to check for errors. sometimes errors can cause things to plot weird.
or is it possible to post this drawing for us to take a look at?

i've done audit on it already, that is the first thing we do on all drawings. the drawing appears normal on all other computers in the office. i can not post drawing due to legal issues as the job is under construction ( i would if i could, but bosses and lawers are teste). i am just trying to avoid redploying autocad back to my machine, but it looks like that it may solve the problem. sigh....................... if i do redploy autocad it will be with out the customization files that occur automatically with the server settings and i will do it manually.

have you tried exporting someone elses system variables when they have the drawing open, and then reimporting them into your session to see if it corrects the problem, or maybe something in your profile is corrupt and you need to reset it, you could try importing someone elses profile.

Do you have text on top of the fill and set to cut out around text?

it is not text, it is a symbol that is a circle, divide into 4 pie shape wedges, and 2 are shaded in. everything else show s up fine

Post the drawing of the symbol you are having trouble with. Perhaps one of us can reproduce the problem and find a solution.
