Non-Rectilinear Crop Region

Is it possible to create a crop region that isnt a square or rectangle? Or a callout view? Something in a L shape? It doesn't look like this is possible but I've been wrong many times before...

Same here. I'm not aware of any way to do it. But, if you want a workaround... As long as you can make the shape with some combination of rectangles you can:

Place all the callouts as you need them. Turn off their annotations, and draft your own falsie on top of it. It you're really clever you can get the annotation head to show without the boundary and then you don't even have to fake the sheet number/detail number part! How? Override Graphics in View by Element on the tag. Change the line color to white, and check "transparent." You can also change line weight if you choose, but as long as you change the first two, not such a big deal. Magically, the head still shows up! Done!

Personally, I just wish they'd program in polygonal crop regions for all views...
