CAD Conference
Next Friday, Sept. 7th, I am to meet and formulate CAD standards with the engr. manager. I am the sole CAD stand-alone user.

BASICS NEEDED

Is there anyone that can pass on their experiences at organizing both 2D & 3D types of drawings i.e. project folders, etc.
SPECIFICALLY needed changes to the current ogranization (2D) shown below to better organize and integrate (3D) Inventor's project-based file system.
Would you recommend a lightweight database to organize and assign drawing ID's - including linking a database to CAD. Use of Autodesk Vault, MS Access, etc.?CURRENT ORGANIZATION:

Now it is a sequential alphanumeric drawing ID system based on Windows Explorer
No drawing database is in use.

chemical processes/facility areas folders (around 12 folders)
folder for facility site plans
folder for faciltiy utility mapsTIme for some CONSISTENCY - 2D CAD drawings have been generated by a series of various contract CAD personnel, one at a time, for a period of 10+ years; applying various flavors of drawing ID systems!
