Lens Length in 3D Orbit

In the 3D Orbit command, Architectural Desktop 2007 seems to magically and arbitrarily change lens length. Also, the lens length is no longer controlled through the Adjust Distance command. How is lens length now controlled?

after you pick orbit -- go to properties palette and there is a setting for lens length-- field of view etc
