with 2006 i could select a rectangle/object to extrude and specify the height by clicking two points in the relevent view of a 2D drawing.
Now with 2007 once I select the object it defaults the first point to the centre of the rectangle and waits for the second point to be selected.
is there a setting i can change to get the input of the extrusion height as it was in 2006???
cheers

I don't know about any settings. If you are unable to find one, try using transparent quick calc (type 'qc ) and use 'Distance between two points' option. You can directly paste the value from there to the command prompt.

In that case, you can use the following macro to get the 2006 functionality (unless you are using AutoCAD LT).
^C^C_Extrude;\;(getdist "Specify first point: ");\\
