For some free-form design which is hard to be handled by revit itself, I think it's better using other software like formz to create the 3d object and then imported it back to revit. The problem is the imported dwg object cant be applied hatch patten for material. It's said that you need to apply correct hatch pattern for surface and cut pattern (in autocad) prior to importing it to revit. I wonder if anyone have done this kind of work with success? Since I'm not good at raw AutoCAD, may I ask what the rough process to apply hatch patten (surface and cut) on 3d object inside AutoCAD?
Thanks

You cant. In AutoCAD you don't "apply" pattern to objects you create an object called hatch. They are not "attach" to an object.
In Revit you would create Revit element from that imported geometry and then apply pattern to them.

Thanks! most imported 3d dwg files are somethings which are impossible to create with limited revit modeling tools. Do you suggest that there is a way to "directly convert" imported 3d objects into native revit 3d objects?

You can use the wall by face for exemple
