Just a quick question. How can I get my image for a part in the catalog of mvparts to not come in all black? I have tried everything I can think of and sometimes they come out white, but most times they are completely black. Can't tell what they are supposed to be when I go to pick an item. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :)
Mine was the same way - I think it has to do with the color of Layer 0 (which is the layer the block is on). I would recommend using an actual image of the part you are creating (use a google image search).

Kchenault - I am having the same exact issue. Did you happen to figure out what the solution is. If so, I would greatly appreciate it if you would share this with me. Thanks AJN

Hi All,
When you are creating the MvPart when asked for the image click on the icon on the lower left side of the dialog. This will open up the viewer. In the viewer rotate the view how you like and apply a visual style. Next save this view as a bitmap and use the bitmap for your image.
Hope this helps,

If you are making a custom part like say a heat recovery steam generator and don't have a handy bitmap; while you are making the 3d solid block use the color faces or color edges tool buttons on the solids editing tool bar. This way you can give the feature a little shape.
Don't remember how I figured that one out.
