This does not seem to be documented by AutoDESK REVIT but I have found the following to work and I take advantage of it.
When you explode an imported AutoCAD dwg, the imported lines are assigned a linestyle based on the layer they resided on.
The result is a lot of useless linestyles.
HOWEVER, you can delete these linestyle and you will NOT loose the lines. 2D lines (dwgs imported into detail views) will all default to REVIT's thin lines which you can then change to whatever you want. 3D lines (dwgs imported into plan) will default to lines (model).
Try it out !

I wish Revit would warn you that it's going to move those ACAD linetypes to another style.
You really can't tell if you are deleting an unused Linetype, or if it's going to change the appearance of some unknown graphic entity.
Might also be nice if Revit would recognize that HIDDEN4 is already in my project & not add HIDDEN4(34). I've had projects with over 100 "different" HIDDEN4 linetypes

REVIT only moves the linestyle to "lines" or "thin lines" when you delete the imported linestyle. If you don't want that, then don't delete the style!
If you have a 100 different hidden4 lines, your not keeping up with the maintenance I think you should do. I like to import the cad dwg into a dummy project, delete the linestyles & re-assign the lines that need to be changed, then copy-clip that into my project. You can do this in the project but ...
NOTE: Before I explode a cad dwg, I delete all the dimensions and leader/arrows. The advantage of using the dummy project is that I can also clean up the text style and not have those imported either.

You missed my point. The point was that I don't KNOW whether I should delete the linestyle or not. Let's say I import a detail, and then (as I should) I select individual lines and move them to the correct Revit linestyle. The original linestyle still remains in the list & I don't know whether I intended to leave lines on that style, if I missed one, or if it's empty & can be deleted without affecting anything.
If you have a 100 different hidden4 lines, your not keeping up with the maintenance I think you should do. .
This is one of the joys of Revit being a multi-user environment. I try to clean up. I teach people to clean up. The problem is that I support 45 people & all it takes is for one person to get lazy or sloppy & suddenly we've got dozens and dozens of linestyles all named HIDDEN4(#). No idea who brought in which line & if it's safe to delete some.
