Hi there,

Anyone have any idea what the Lateral Justification is supposed to do. I can see that it offsets a beam to a side but there does not seem to be any logic here. Try a PFC or C-Channel?

Any answers or guesses would be good.

The offset is based on the direction that the beams is "drawn".

"Side 1" is the left of the beam, facing the way it is drawn.

It seems consistant to me.

You probably tried this with a UB and this seems fine, try it with a PFC or a C-channel. Just can't work out whats going on. This stemmed from a custom beam family I have made

It seems that the issue is the offset from the center plane in the construction of the family.

It appears that the fact that the angle family itself is not symmetrical around the center plane messes with the offset mechanism.

If you look at a precast "L shaped" beam, it adjusts to the Lateral justification correctly. You could probably create a family that is "center justified" that would behave correctly when you set the lateral justification.
