Stair winders... what the???

Hey guys-

I'm trying to do this monumental stair, and I noticed that the underside of my winders can't decide if they want to be smooth or stepped, even though i checked smooth in the type properties dialog? Has anyone run into this before? How do you fix it???

btw... keep your replies simple, this is only the second week i've been using revit and i'm still trying to pick up the lingo.
