Does anyone have a routine or know how to create:
1)autocad table that references a excel spreadsheet? I usually just insert my excel spreadsheet as OLE.
2)table that would list my slopes and inverts for sewer (Note: I'm a Landdesktop 05 user, and our company doesn't use pipes, everything is done manually.)

1. Any chance you will upgrade to 2008? Excel to Table linking is built-in.

2. If you applied attributes to your "pipes" containing the slopes and inverts, then EATTEXT would be able to create you a table of this info (not sure about in v2005 though)...

Civil 3D 2008 does this automatically when you create pipe network then set your table
according to the table styles for pipes or structures.

My reply was based on the OP using LDT2005 and not using "pipes".

Sorry, you had mention 2008, so I responding about Civil 3D 2008.

What does Bently have to do with acad tables? I suggest you post this question as a separate, new thread in the Software forum (http://forums.augi.com/forumdisplay.php?f=117). You'll probably get more responses that way.

Of course you and I know it - but it's entirely possible that someone may not know that Bentley is a separate software company and does not make AutoCAD.

So to clarify...
Autodesk makes AutoCAD
Bentley makes Microstation.
They are like Ford and Chevrolet. They can both get you from point A to point B, but a piston from a Ford won't fit a Chevrolet. IOW - learning about AutoCAD tables will not help you at all if you will be using Microstation (or another Bentley product).... hence the pointer to the Bentley forums.

Some advice on linking spreadsheets to Acad drawings:

AC2008 does indeed allow active linking to Excel (and Access). However, bear in mind that if your drawings have been legally issued, the last thing you want is drawings automatically updating without revision clouds, dates, correspondance, bulletins, transmittals and all that stuff that keeps you out of the courtroom.

If you bind or otherwise distribute your drawings, you will have to send the spreadsheet with it. Probably not what you had in mind. And remember too, that nobody ever has the same virtual drives you have, so the paths might be a problem for your recipients.

What I prefer to do is make a static copy of the spreadsheet as a table in Acad. In the spreadsheet, highlight the area you want in Acad and copy it to the clipboard. Then in Acad use EDIT/PASTE SPECIAL/AUTOCAD ENTITIES. It will be inserted as a static copy of the Excel sheet. You will be able to use all the table and field editing commands to touch it up.

Take the time to learn the table and field commands. They are one of the better new features of recent Acad releases.

And don't expect it to look, feel or act like Acad. One of our Acad-only users reponse to Revit was: "It doesn't have any layers"

Sorry if that sounded rude. I was referring to the fact that he asked an unrelated question in an existing thread. He would be better served by asking his own question separately in the proper forum. People with the experience he requested may not be looking in a thread dealing with tables.

if by active linking, you mean does not instantly update your right you still have to update links.
About binding the table, you don't have to do that you can just disconnect the link then the table becomes static.

copy /paste in 2008 you can paste special Autocad entities as a link.

If you want learn table commands then ATP209 AutoCAD Tables starts Oct 8

I agree. It just made me think that the OP may have been told they are changing to "bentley" and not have a clue what this really means....
