Does anyone know how to create a bunch of new sheets in a project all at once and preferably auto-numbering?

AFAIK there is no way to create more than one at a time. To auto number, just be sure to create the first, name it, and then create the others. eg A-3.01 will increment to A-3.02, A-3.03 etc.
Similar to grids, door numbers etc. Revit is pretty good at incrementing based on how you enter information for the first in a series.

...no way to create more than one at a time...
We have a work-around that is a big time saver for our staff. Though Mr. Havalias is correct that you cannot do this within a specific project, you can load a bunch of sheets from another project. We initially did this for all the "dummy" consultant sheets we want in our index schedule so teams did not have to keep creating them one at a time. Works for in-house stuff also.
Create a Project and then create a bunch of sheets. You can purge everything else. Name and number the sheets based on whatever standard your firm uses. We follow NCS for the most part. In this project, you can create AD sheets for architectural demolition, AS sheets for architectural site plans, A100 series sheets for plans in projects with lots of floors, lots of elevation and section sheets, detail sheets and more. Keep this in a protected network location. When a team needs more sheets, they go to File > Insert from File > Views... They navigate to the network location, check the sheet(s) they need, click OK and like magic, all the sheets are in the project. The clip is a cropped autoscroll image from the dialog box - this gives you an idea of what we did for consultant sheets.
Takes effort up front (really boring and mindless task that my colleague graciously did) but in the end, this method insures consistency and saves time. The only caveat is that if you check a sheet you already have in your project with the same name and number, Revit arbitrarily assigns a new number. It starts with whatever number was created last in the source project.

Apart from the suggestions and hiring a clever programmer to create a cool sheet maker tool like a couple firms I know have you do have one more trick up the sleeve, though not much "faster" for a big set.
Create one sheet and number it the way you want. Place no views on it. Select it in the Project Browser and use Right Click > Copy to Clipboard. Click in the Drawing Window (any where just move the focus from the Project Browser) and then use CTRL + V (Windows Paste shortcut), don't look for the Right Click option that you'd expect. Yes, you could just use CTRL + C to copy to clipboard instead.
This will create a new sheet based on the previous number quickly, as many times as you use CTRL + V (paste). Start the sequence with a new number and off you go. Faster than selecting the same sheet in the dialog over and over.
I think that Revit should cultivate and incorporate ideas for better sheet creation from firms that have already created such routines internally.

You can add keyboard shortcut for creating a new sheet so all you have to do is click in the drawing area and hit that repeatedly. (We use 'NS')

Amazing.
Create a Sheet list schedule, fill it with desired sheets. When you click Create New Sheet, use shift select and all the sheets will be created.

Anyone have luck with an add-on like BIM Link to generate a sheet list external to Revit and loading it back in?
Cheers,

this is what I do if I have a lot of sheets to add. If I only have a few I just right click on the first one, select Copy to Clipboard, then do Ctrl-V several times to create sheets quickly.

Dave,
Are you doing this in the schedule or in the project browser?
Thanks,

I have used the CTC product. Worked beautifully, except that it wouldn't put the correct title block family in the sheet. It's available on trial ...

Hi John,
I think we have a few copies of that in our office too. I should ask it be installed on my workstation. What happens if you only have one ttlb in your model?
Thank you,
Jeff S.

Presumably it uses that one, but I don't know. I just had the trial time period, it's still in the budget-ed stage for me. My point was that this particular tool is not setup to do sheets specifically, so it does not have special sub-features to also specify an object inserted into the sheet like some tools might. So, just a warning that anybody reading this and going to use the CTC tool on my recommendation, just check the titleblock after the sheet is made.

John,
Are you using 2012 or 2013 version of this product? I installed the 2012 yesterday, but I couldn't figure out how to add sheets either through the app or Excel. I was also having issues with it loading in saved settings when trying to re-export.
Thank you in advance,
Jeff S.

2012. Since I only used the trial, and it's expired, I can't look at it to see. I don't remember it being too difficult. It seemed that the documentation was adequate ... Had to export one first, just to get the excel setup, then fill it in or copy paste all the sheet info from one I already had? Did I have to type "New sheet" in the "ID" column in each record?

Thank you John,
I'll have to take a second look at the user's manual. Did you ever have an issue were you couldn't import the settings from your .xml file? I was getting a warning about category type isn't listed.
Thanks,
Jeff S.
I tried putting in "New sheet" in the "UniqueID" column, only to have the Import Fail to add those sheets.
I went back to the website, and tehre is a 5+ min. video available on YouTube that I don't have access to. Is that where it describes how to add new items in Excel?
Thanks
Jeff S.

Okay John,
So in the installation zip file there is a pdf that spells out the steps on how to create new sheets, rooms & the like. UniqueID column 'Add', Category column Sheet, additional information as required. I still don't know how you're able to specify the titleblock, for it doesn't seem to be a parameter of sheets.
Cheers,
Jeff S.

Could be, not that I remember. You keep asking questions of a guy who barely used the program and doesn't currently have it to play with it. You're making me feel inadequate, man.

Yeah, I have to watch YouTube at home, too.

Sorry John, not the intent...
I'm starting a list of Pros & Cons of each excel linking software we have. CTC fixed my 'Load Export Settings' issue. They had to fix something, but they're going to extend my trail license cause of the problems I've experienced.

I guess they didn't think to get at inserting things when you're creating a new sheet, the whole interface is only working directly on the category of objects. Let them know that we really want that for sheets. The app that Mario Guttmann wrote for HOK many years ago had the setting for the titleblock-to-use in the app, not in the Excel, and I'm thinking that would be a better interface, as an extra thing that it does when it sees you're creating new sheets, to just do them all the same.
they're going to extend my trail license cause of the problems I've experienced.
Ooh, maybe I'll tell them I had a problem, too...
