Passing Labels/text

Is it possible to pass labels thru from an annotation family to the next higher? Example. a wall switch with the capacity to be a 3 way, 4 way and Infrared occupancy sensor. Or do they all have to be separate families. here is how we presently do it in autocad.

Here's an example of one method, importing a generic annotation family with the type labels.

You can assign visibility parameters to the generic annotation and set up your switch types.

Then schedule the switch out with the family and type parameters.
