Does anyone know how to export a Sketchup model into Max where entities may be treated as a single object rather than a gozillion mesh faces. I made sure that all the various entities in SU were assigned layers (brick, road, grass, glazing, frames etc.) but still the objects separated into Mesh faces.

I am used to creating models in AutoCAD in solid Prims which retain their object status when exported to Max and so applying textures and sorting out mapping is relatively straightforward, but this is driving me nuts. I have just missed an important deadline as I was going to render the model inside SU using a V-Ray plug-in but the boss wasn't happy so had to export it at the last minute and there were so many different faces (and some that actually didn't make the export at all!!) that I am still trying to sort it out.

Any help would be great, guys n gals.

I thought there was a plugin for sketchup that allowed export to cad which converts all faces into solids? Doing that would allow for easy import into MAX I would think.

u can export sketchup model to .3ds format, VRML and cad Formats from there u can easly import to max if ur using cad format make sure that the model is a single entity, if it is not u can convert model in to a single solid model in ACAD and import
cheers
