it's driving me crazy. the roof is all one piece. it's a sloped roof. but for some reason part of the roof decided to move itself 3.5" lower than the other part but when i try and select it it's still one piece of roof! argh! why? how do i fix it!??!

Well, it looked like a stair to me. Any chance you can post a rvt file so we could see what's really happening?

It could be that you have your slopes set up in a awkward directions.

in sketch mode, check the properties of the sketch line, and make sure the 'plate offset from base" parameter is the same for all sketch lines.

Another something to check while on sketch mode is the Align Eaves buttom in the design bar. this wil tell you if all the eave heights are the same, and will adjust them for you if not.

the slopes are 6:12, they're all the same. the plate offset from base is all the same. the eaves are all aligned...

that picture was a section cut through the problematic roof. the roof is sloped so you are cutting through the slope.

here's an image in 3d. the problem area is in the green circle

It would appear that the one section you highlighted with the green circles is higher than the surrounding roof sectios adjacent or on the other side of the ridge. Is it possible the runs are not equal on both sides of the ridge in this area. Just lower (move) the section illustrated down to align with the ridge. If you align the roofs at the ridge, does that affect the plate height or overhang relationship to adjacent roof sections with this roof panel. If so, then it has to be a slope angle or rise/run value setting.
