Our office has had several issues successfully working with slab edges. They never seem to work correctly or at least not in the way we expect them to. Sometimes slab edges will join to a floor slab just fine and other times they will not. Sometimes an individual segment will join and another segment does not. There are occassions when a joined slab edge will appear in a detail section and then not in an overall building section. The floor slab will show the outline of the slab edge where it joins the floor but the rest of the slab edge profile does not show up. This is also true when the slab edge is not joined to the floor slab. Lastly, the add or remove individual segments option does not always work. I've checked several other posts but we still have not been able to get them to work correctly.

Any help or insight into this issue would be helpful.

Thanks,

Sal

I've had some issues with slab edges as well.

Pointers:
1. Make sure that the floor and slab edge have the same exact material.
2. Check that the slab edge and floor doesn't overlap where they connect. Best if the slab edge fits perfect like a puzzle piece to the floor slab.

I've had all the same problems with slab edges. Really annoying as there seems to be no rational reason for it.

Anyway, what I do every time now is create each slab edge segment separately, never in a row forming one segment. So when you have the tool active, select an edge, then select 'next', select your next edge. Continue to do that, then come back and join each individual slab edge to the slab one at a time. I've had really good luck with this with minimal errors. When you do run into a problem even after using this method, I generally find it to be because you are working in or on a tight corner. In that case, if it's too small and your slab edge is large, it still may not work, but drag the ends of any previously placed slab edges away from the new one you are trying to place, then place your new one, then bring all your edges back together. I've been able to resolve most of my issues with slab edges by using this method.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.

For the most part this method works just fine. The only problems that we're still having is for one reason or another sometimes the slab edge will be created on multiple slab faces and not just on the selected face. In those cases I can't even remove the extra segments with the add or remove segment option.

Very odd

I've encountered this before as well. My fix is, delete the slab edge and replace it.

Edit: I mean, literally right clicking on it and selecting delete AND replacing it.
