Design Options - Model Lines

Has anyone come across this, and how have you resolved it?

We have a couple of design options which contain model lines, for various reasons. As soon as the team split any model line within the option, one end drops off and sets itself into the Main Model.

The only option i can see to fix this is to then exit out of the option, select model lines and add to appropriate design option - any other ideas?

I'd say it's a bug.
