Can't make railing?

I created a railing using a profile for a custom iron hand rail. It worked fine on flat runs, but when I set the host to stairs, it said it could not create the rail extrusion. Could it be because I used spline curves in the profile?

I have attached the profile if someone could take a look at it. Thanks.
