I almost feel ashamed for asking such a newbie question, but is there a way to convert 3D polylines to 2D polylines without having to re-draw them ?

try FLATTEN. (this will MAKE your entire drawing 2D)

:) thanks, I guess I just don't use Acadd often enough to have found that trick yet :D

If this does actually work for your entire drawing you will be a lucky man. This routine doesn't always work 100% (never for an entire drawing for me).
There are certain types of entities it doesn't work with and if a single one of those is selected it will not flatten any of the objects.

It did work, I only had a few selectable lines to convert from 3D polylines (they just had a fair number of points each).

The next trick for me to find would be a line reversing tool ie C-B-A opposed to A-B-C.. but i think I cheated that out with a complementary linestyle...
