I am trying to see if there is a better way to do this-

We need to use a metal mesh deck- in both ceiling and floor capacities, and the first solution to this was to create a new ceiling & set the surface pattern. When using either model or drafted this has failed when zoomed out past a certain point it all becomes a solid gray-even when using drafted surface pattern & clicking "always readable."

Second solution was to create a curtain wall panel and apply it to masses. Needless to say that amount of mullions crashed a more than few computers, and can not be applied to large areas.

Are we missing some obvious way to do this?

Either floor or ceiling would be much appreciated- sorry if this is a really dumb question!!

Thanks!!

Was the mesh pattern applied as a model surface pattern... and transparency applied in the shading option?

We did try as model surface pattern-though I am not sure about the transparency?

Try manipulating the transparancy to 60. The model line pattern will still show but the body of the object will become transparent or ghosted. This trick works in "hidden line" or "shaded with edges" mode.

Also try manipulating the view scale in the view properties...
