I want to create a dumb text based schedule in Revit to use as a material list. The schedule would include columns for Mark, Material, Mfr., Color, Pattern, Size, bla bla bla.... I have no need to tie these fields to inteligent parameters. I just want to create an easy iterface similar to Excel for the interior designer on the project to fill in all of this information.

Sounds like you should probably use excel.

If you must use Revit for this then I'd make a drafting view and draw it.

You can create a schedule like this in Revit, it would be tied to something, you just don't have to use that function. I recommend creating a generic annotation with the properties you need. Insert a couple of those somewhere in your project and then simply fill out the schedule. In the future, when you decide to leverage your data, you can simply add leaders to those generic annotations and tag the materials in your project. They're not linked to anything except themselves, but it works quite nicely.

If you go the excel route, you'll be dropping it in as an image.

How about a schedule key ?

I guess you could make it work, but it isn't directly useful down the line.

I guess you could make it work, but it isn't directly useful down the line.

But it is a better solution than using excel and then importing into revit. I think I try to create a schedule key to handle this and then tie the schedule key to my finish schedule
