Selective use of Autoscale?

Is there a way to selectively choose which annotative objects are scaled when the autoscale icon is active and the scale is changed? Right now it changes everything in the drawing including objects that are on off, locked and frozen layers. Am I doing something wrong?

Take a peek at the Annotative tools in the bottom-right corner of the screen. You should see a small icon next the the light bulb which looks like a lighting bolt. This is the toggle for the sysvar ANNOAUTOSCALE. Look it up in the help menu for all the ins and outs. I prefer to not use it for the same reasons you posted, it can cause some really wonky effects to things you don't want it to.
