Guys,
We have an Existing Wall, of which the Finishes will be stripped, and then Add New Finishes.
Now we have our setup Phasing in the project...
EXISTING PLAN - Wall A with Gyp Finish bothsides
DEMO PLAN - Wall A Gyp Finish stripped off studs leaving the studs intack
NEW FLOOR PLAN - New Finish on Existing Studs

How would you guys walk-around this?

Thanks

You can;t demolish a finish but you can use 2 walls. one for the structural part and one for the finish. Use Join Geometry to allow doors and windows to cut through boh.
Then demolish only the finish wall

I would handle it with the Room Finish Schedule or a key note (note block) of some kind. Although Daniel's method is a good one and one I have used often, I have found that sometimes it is easier to handle these smaller phasing issues with a note - expecially if you are working at smaller scales. If you were creating demo plans at 1/4"=1'-0" or greater, the two walls would be a great method. Smaller than this, I"m not sure that your intent would come across as well. My $.02.

Unless you need to schedule it - wouldnt you just leave the wall alone and notate it?
(ie: "Remove wall finishes and replace with blah de blah")

If the finish changfe is significant enough that you need it in a wall section, Daniels method works very well.

What WOULD be nice, is a "break apart" option, much like we already have with stacked walls. Select wall, right click, break apart... It would have to create wall types for them, and eradicate Type Marks and Type Properties... But man, that would be slick for renov work... :)

Not only for renovation work
We have many complex transitions between walls structure and finishes and i use a lot the 2 walls join geometry trick
but what about being able to group and ungroup wall component and being able
to extent finishes past the core part of the wall horizontal ,just like you can unlock the element vertically already, and if you could phase the elements separately that would be slick for Trade Packages we do a lot
Now that would make me happy
Anybody from the factory listening?

Great tip on the join geometry tools for having the door or window cut through both wall structures. I also agree with being able to separate wall based on its layers. It would be cool if there was a "Break Up" tools for the horizontal item like we have for the vertical parts of a stacked wall.

Maybe on next year's wish list.
