View Full Version : View Title - Referencing Sheet

Something that has been a thorn in our side and a source of much complaints from management has been how to get view referencing correct in Revit.

In my attached example file, on sheet 01, the section marker and section View Title information are correct. But when looking at sheet 02, the View Title does not reference the correct sheet, but rather the view on the first sheet even though the section on that view is not displayed.

Is there anyway to force Revit to reference views correctly without the need for 'dumb' text?

It looks like the parameters you are using for the View Tag family is pulling from the "Referencing Sheet" parameter. I guess I am use to seeing this set to the "Sheet Number" parameter. Could this be it, or are you attempting a method of detail placement on sheet that I am not understanding.

I'm not sure how it's done elsewhere, but here the section marker has the detail number and corresponding sheet that the details is on. The view title of the section then displays the same detail number and the sheet from which the section (callout, elevation, etc) is referenced from.
It's pointless having the sheet number in the view title because you can just look at the title block to find that out.

Most places I've been in the States just display the detail number. Some have clients who require listing the sheet references (NASA does for example, as does some other government agencies) made for a detail and that is what the label is meant for. As you know, unfortunately when more than one reference is made it can only display the "first". It needs to expand to be able to list all references. Then the formatting of such information gets tricky because how they want it displayed varies.

Anything further on this?

We have something similar. An elevation created within a callout plan view from a main plan references the sheet where the main floor plan is and not where the callout floor plan view is.

If the callout out is a detail view instead of a floor plan it seems to work. But then i cannot create an elevation in a detail callout, only sections

Hi Chad - we have the same issue.

The work around for us was to:
remove the view from the sheet the interior elevations were referencing too (Plan on Sheet A1-11)
Go to that view in project browser - hide in view all the interior elevation symbols, check referencing had updated
Replace the plan view on sheet A1-11.

Not the best solution but works for now.
