Template loaded families into existing project

I have a project that uses the same Revit model from an addition project we did last year. When we started this new project, last year's Revit model was opened and saved as the new project. Last year's project was also an addition so it already had objects on both the new and existing phases. So all the New Construction elements were moved to the Existing phase, and all the old details and drafting views not needed on this project were stripped out.

Now the problem: the previous Revit model was done back in probably 8.1, before all the new detail component families that came out with version 9. I would like to have the new detail component families that are loaded into our current 2008 template in this file.

So I purged out all the unused detail items, which took out almost all the detail components since we had already deleted all the detail views. Is there any quick and easy way to transfer the loaded detail components from our current template to this Revit file?

Sorry, no real silver bullet. If all the detail components were part of drafting view you could use File menu > Insert from File > Views to transfer them. If all the components are in a folder on your network you can drag and drop them into the project. You can copy/paste from the project browser but not all the families, just a family or its types at a time.
