Is there a way to fill out specific fields in an Excel spreadsheet from Revit? An example would be, I want to fill out column and field B5 in an xls with the total footprint area from Revit. It doesn't have to be a 'live' connection as long as I can re-export.

Download the SDK sample from this thread. Should do what you want I think.

Thanks. I have downloaded the SDK and reviewed it. It doesn't seem to say anything about linking certain pieces of Revit data to an excel field. Has anyone tried this type of thing?

Outside the API, I've done it via ODBC export, but that was for lots of data and would be far more than needed if you're just looking for 1 or two pieces of data...

Within the API, look at the link posted by GuyR...

http://www.revittools.info/ claim to do it. So it must be possible.
One-click direct export to Excel
With reviTTools you can export door and room information with one single click to Excel. Particular csv export and conversation are not required. In Excel all values are formatted correctly.
