I am having a dilemma with a particular Field. I am trying to change my Rtext to fields. I have tried to use the "filename" field, the problem I am having is when I go to use "publish" it changes the file name "filename" field to a temp folder "c:tempacpublish_1681". Now I changed my "fieldeval" to not update on plot, which fixes the problem of the filename. Problem now is I also have a Field that shows the "plotdate" and that does not get update, therefore it stays the same as it did before or does not show anything, EX. "----". If anybody has any Ideas of how to fix this, let ne know, thanks in advance.

You could turn off background publishing. Other than that, I don't know what you could do.

Why not try using the previous RTEXT expression within the
field, as I recall using Deisel is permitted with fields.
I'm curious in general that it would change the file name on publish,
are you doing this publishing through the sheet set manager box?

RobertB,
I tried turning off the background plotting and had no luck.

mjfarrell,
I went back and put the RTEXT back in and use the PUBLISH command, it still changed the filename folder path to a temp location.

I am NOT using the publishing through SSM. I did however try using the PUBLISH through the SSM and it still did the same thing.

Now when I just use the PLOT command, everything comes out correct. With all the different scenerios I have done, I have narrowed it down to having something to do with the PUBLISH command, it is putting the drawing in a temp folder when it goes to plot.

Maybe this is a job for Autodesk Man!

Joe,

Sounds like you have discovered yet another weakness
to add to the list of poorly conceived tools included in 2005
for us users to finish Beta testing for AutoDesk.

RobertB,

I did a straight Publish on AutoCAD 2005 (not ABS) using background publishing and did not see that behavior. My fields displayed the correct values for both Filename and Plot Date in my vanilla profile.

I will test the drawings as part of an Sheet Set and report back later.
