3 years later and I still seem to be revisiting problems with fields. Once again, right at the end of a project I've been working on for months, about 1/2 of the callout blocks I've used are displaying # instead of the correct text.
I don't believe in my case that FIELDEVAL is set incorrectly (It's set to 4).
I do have some of these callout bubbles in xrefs, but those ones aren't the only problems. Here is an example workflow - 1) I draw a section in m.s. and give it a named view.
2) I insert that named view onto a sheet via the s.s.m. This gives me a view name & number that I can modify on the view list tab of the s.s.m. 3) Also from this tab, I place my callout blocks onto other drawings within the sheet set. Some of these placements are on sheets, sometimes they are in m.s. of the sheets and sometimes they are in m.s. of drawings that I, 1) create named viewports from, which I then 2) place on to sheets.. (right back to the beginning).
I'm reading here and there that you should/shouldn't place them in xrefs, but can someone give me a definite answer? In the past I noted a problem where fields would display and print fine from xrefs, but would publish with #'s. But now, I'm having a problem already between steps 1 and 2. My drawing title of views that I've placed in some cases turned to #.
Attached is a screen shot of the fields that I've constructed my callouts from (sheet number and view number).
That's a long post, but if someone can help me out, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jason
