Phase Recommendation

I have not used the phasing or the design option features much in Revit and need some advice. I am working on a design of a large addition to an existing residential house. The client wants to build the addition in several phases and would like to see how the house will look at the completion of each phase including the end product. With each new phase, there will be minor changes/demolition to the previous phase. I have drawn the existing structure and now would like to begin designing phase 1. My question is should I set this up using different Phases or would it be best to use multiple Design Options?

My general rule in Revit is to use a tool for what was designed to do. Although there are times where it may be necessary to bend the rules a bit, this isn't one of them. In your case, since you want to show multiple phases of a building, you'll want to use phases. Just establish multiple phases and you'll be able to set up views for the building at each point in time.
