Hi !!!

I reverse stairs going from level 1 to 2 with two landings in between.

What is the best way to do so ??
Take a look at the picture

-Thanks

Because you already have our landing levels set up, I would recommend drawing this as 3 seperat stairs. You could make it work with 1 or 2 but it's probably not worth the fight. However, I would start by drawing a single run stair all the way up and use that to set the landing heights (if they're not driven by some other factors). Each stair should start/end at the middle of a landing where it's easiest to close up your railings, etc. Simply make sure to break your boundry lines where you are making a landing (at the last riser) and change the settings for the boundry edge on the landing side of the last riser. Hope that gets you going.

Andre thanks!
I really appreciate your help, still can't make it work :((

Lets say I would draw stairs from Level1 - Landing1(it is 9 risers)
How do I add landing ?? I tried to add landing using landing using boundary lines. Either I get an error or landing is not showing up ....

That's a pain... you could try to make two stairs that go different directions, and make the risers on the same level the length of the landing. It's really unexpected behavior, and it sucks.

Your top riser has a boundary line instead of a riser - this is the issue. The boundary lines should be two seperate strings of lines.

I find that drawing boundary lines tends to give me errors, so I split boundary lines, select multiple lines, and move the vertices around, maintaining integrity.

Here is a link to a solution on our Knowledgebase on how to create a 3 run stair. It might help you tackle this problem.

Hi Jeff
According to article:
"Click Stairs Properties on the Sketch tab and set the stairs parameters for the first two runs of the stair to the following values:
Base Level = Level 1 (or starting level)
Top Level= Level 1 (or starting level)
Top Offset= Height determined in step 1"

Please some one decrypt this for me
Setting Base Level = Top Level = Level 1, will give me an error right away, no question about it.

WOWWWWWWAAAAAAA That is exactly what I want !!!
I got the file!!!

All right, I will sit down and reverse-engineer it.

Great Thanks !!!

I did it with two stairs, the tricky part is matching the two of them, it is still slightly off; needs some more nudging.

Unfortunately there is the double post where they meet. A more perfect solution would probably require breaking down all the parts into separate elements, but that would take more time.

edit: actually, the rail on the second stair with one step going down can be deleted, and the railing of the bigger stair extended to meet the landing, which works out better.

Check it out:

Yes, it is true.

It doesn't look too bad though. Only the floating railings, Revit has yet to improve the railing tool.

To correct the floating railing you must make an "end" or "start" baluster and adjust the height to the floor....If that doesnt work try and adjusting the "base offset" dimension. and changing the "base" host in the "edit baluster placement" dialog

You also might try to edit the stair properties. Change for the stair to end with a riser or a tread...see which works out for you.
